Description
Green tea with ginger
Green tea (Sencha– 94%) with pieces of ginger (4%) and sunflower petals.
Grassy notes combined with refreshing ginger.
The basis of this mixture is green tea. Sencha is, as all other green teas processed by heating up the leaf. This way we stop the oxidation process, and keep fresh green notes in the taste of the tea itself. Heat deactivates enzymes that cause oxidation.
Unlike many teas that are processed by “baking” their leaves, heat in the form of steam is used for this green tea. This method of leaf processing preserves more of the herbal, fresh flavors that Sencha is known for.
The steaming process can take about 40-80 seconds. This is the standard steaming time of the sheet. While of course, on the other hand, there are producers who have specific times for that process (much shorter or much longer than usual) in order to get the desired flavor profile.
The ginger in this mixture contributes to a refreshing taste. As well as a positive effect on immunity, metabolism and general health of the body. While sunflower petals contribute to the aesthetic appearance of the mixture itself. In folk medicine, tinctures of sunflower petals are used to rinse the mouth in cases of sore throat and tonsils. As well as to “cleanse the body”.
