Mint tea
One of the most famous and popular herbal teas, especially in Serbia, is mint tea. It is traditionally a part of every household. Almost every house has some kind of mint. Whether it is crushed tea in filter bags, dried mint in a leaf, or fresh mint growing on the kitchen window or in the garden, whose leaf is picked on the spot and poured with hot water to prepare an invigorating drink.
It is generally known for its positive effects on the body. First of all, let’s start with the simplest, which is that mint leaves refresh and soothe with their smell and taste.
Thanks to the components found in the leaf such as phenols, flavonoids and essential oil, mint can have significant antimicrobial, antiviral and antioxidant effects. It helps with gastrointestinal problems such as cramps, bloating, indigestion, heartburn, as well as with vomiting and nausea. It can also soothe mouth inflammation.
Peppermint in combination with other medicinal herbs can relieve menstrual discomfort.
In addition to the classic consumption in the form of hot tea, mint tea can be an excellent iced tea, or serve as a good base for an iced tea made from several types of herbs.
As a perfect addition to either cold or hot mint tea, you can add lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey.
