The ingredient of chamomile to which it owes the majority of its healing effect is the essential oil, which is distinctly blue in color, and is very sensitive and evaporates easily. It is blue due to the high content of azulene derivatives, and for this reason, preparations with chamomile have a blue color.

Azulene derivatives are responsible for the anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effects of chamomile. In addition to essential oil, it also contains other medicinal substances (eg polyphenols, flavonoids, folic acids, phytosterols and many other substances). The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects of chamomile help with various infections and inflammations on the skin and mucous membranes.
