Description
Mao feng green tea
Exceptional freshness for beginners and connoisseurs at the same time. Mao feng is a Chinese tea, harvested in early spring.
This organic tea has a fresh aroma and taste that is accentuated by slightly creamy, soft notes (when brewed at lower temperatures). It is minimally bitter, except when prepared with hotter water. It is a classic choice of tea that can be drunk every day, and is one of the more popular Chinese green teas.
The most famous among teas bearing the name Mao Feng is Huang Shan Mao Feng.
Huang Shan is the name of the region where the most famous Mao Feng is produced. The name Mao Feng actually describes the tea itself. In literal translation, “Mao Feng” can mean new bud or it can also be translated as downy type (buds have fine hairs, similar in texture to soft down feathers, i.e. feathers under feathers in birds). Mao Feng can also mean that it is a higher quality, ie. class, in relation to e.g. Mao Jian.
Most Chinese tea names have two parts. The first part is the region and the second part is descriptive. But sometimes both parts are descriptive. In Jiu Hua Mao Feng, “Jiu Hua” refers to Jiu Hua Mountain.
