Description
Matcha bowl beige
Handmade matcha bowl “Made of dust ceramics“
In the words of the artist:
“It has a slightly wavy shape and an effective finish, it is made completely by hand, on a potter’s wheel. Made of cream dot clay, and glazed with a satin matt white glaze, which gives it a special tactile experience. The “House of Tea” logo is stamped on the outer wall cups and visually emphasized with relief. The shape and size of the cup allow for a comfortable grip when mixing and serving tea.
There are various types of matcha bowls. Although any cup or bowl of similar shape and width can serve as a matcha bowl, they actually have a few key characteristics.
• Shape •
The shape of Japanese matcha bowls is more cylindrical compared to regular ones. It is important that there is plenty of room for strokes with the whisk, which this shape allows. The shape of our beige matcha cup is most similar to the so-called Dojimari-gata (waisted cup). It is one of the most comfortable shapes to hold. It is similar to the Han Tsutsu-gata type, except for the characteristic waist.
• Pattern •
Matcha cups (bowls) have a pattern on one side. This pattern has a significant role in the tea ceremony. As a sign of respect, while drinking tea, it is important that we turn away the pattern/design away from us towards others, so that they can see the most beautiful side of the bowl.
• Clay •
Traditionally, heavy clay is used for matcha cups, which requires holding the bowl with two hands. In this way, the person also focuses on drinking tea and enjoying it.
In addition to the beige matcha bowl, you can also find matcha whisk here.
